Artist Keeps Illustrating Everyday Life With His Wife, And We Finally Get To See The Couple Behind The Comics

leave a comment »

Yehuda Adi Devir (previously herehere, and here) is a Tel-Aviv-based illustrator who knows how to enjoy the little things. The comic artist and character designer creates adorable comics about his daily adventures with his wife, and they perfectly describe their romantic relationship.

“I think the reason people like “One of those days” so much is because they identify with it and relive the beautiful [moments] that were important parts of shaping their own relationship,” Yehuda told Bored Panda. “Viewers see their life through “One of those days” and feel that they are not alone… There are other people somewhere in the world who are just like them, who experience ups and downs in their relationships [as well] and it gives [them] a sense of relevance.”

There are, however, themes that won’t appear in the series. Ever. “Politics! It has no place in the comics. One of “One of those days” goals is to bring people together, not keep them apart.”

Maya is an artist herself and collaborates with her husband on the series. “Usually after something interesting <…> happens to us, we tighten the concept and do a few composition sketches,” Yehuda added. “After that, I sit down and start working. When I finish, Maya adds her suggestions for improvement, suggesting color, typography and so on. All of this process takes no more than a day.”

Eddie Putera – memories with realistic dioramas

leave a comment »

Bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better, and 51-year-old Malaysian artist Eddie Putera proves it with his stunning miniature dioramas. Putera combines his talents of miniature modeling and photography to create scenes so detailed that it’s hard to believe they are all hand-made mini versions of objects, and not real life still photography. Some of them take as little as a week to complete, and Eddie says that sometimes he manages to complete 5-6 of them in a month.

The artist’s work is characterized by urban scenes and rustic finish

Putera says that he started creating dioramas to tell a story

Many people buy them as gifts, or request customized sets

Though sometimes his miniatures look like straight from a post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie

And he perfectly recreates all textures, like sea waves crashing

Although people are not a frequent motif in his miniatures, Putera sometimes features them in living spaces

1 Million People Follow This Photographer On Instagram, And After Seeing His Pics It’s No Wonder Why

leave a comment »

They say practice makes perfect, so photographer Jason M. Peterson should be pretty close to excellence by now. During the last 25 years, Peterson has been taking black and white pictures, constantly pushing his limits, and his persistent artistic efforts have gained him a whopping 1-million-strong following on Instagram.

“To me, my photos aren’t about black and white at all,” Peterson told My Modern Met. “I am trying to capture human emotion, make the viewer feel something. Black and white helps focus on that emotion—color is one less thing to be in the way of seeing the feeling.”

Peterson is an expert when it comes to bringing out the best in shadows, playing with angles and lines, or simply composing the shot. His portfolio has a huge variety of photos, including cityscapes and street photography. They’re bold and graphic, and the strong visual storytelling that Peterson learned in the advertising world (he works as the Chief Creative Officer for Havas North America) blends with the aesthetics perfectly.

Winter in Iceland

leave a comment »

I come to Iceland several times in year, but my favourite season there is winter. Why winter, when there’s darkness most of the time and the weather is rough? The answer is simple. I love the atmosphere of being in the mountains alone, watching northern light and stars, feeling the energy of island and the ocean. These pictures I took on Snæfellsnes and Westfjords where I experienced really wild snowstorm. I love Iceland!

How To Get A Cat To Pose In Front Of The Camera: Start Knitting

leave a comment »

Turns out being both a passionate knitter and a cat owner can be a challenging combination. But, add passionate photographer into the mix and you might just have the winning combo.

Every time I whip out my knit project I find myself in a pulling contest desperately trying to free up some yarn from the random attacks of our curious cats Luna or Bella. A knitter’s nightmare, but a photographers dream.

More info: Instagram

Luna the cat wants to jump on the pile of knits

Bella the cat came strutting onto the scene as I was trying out my new noodle knitting yarn

Knitting a scarf is a long project that takes even longer when you have a cat “helper”

Oh no Luna has dropped some stitches!
