In this video, we tour the incredible 28sqm (301sqft) apartment of architect Douglas Wan. The Melbourne apartment was originally constructed in the 1950’s as housing for nurses. It’s now been completely reimagined for modern times and transformed into a clever small studio.

Que loucura!

knickers-the-big-cow-784x441

A 6ft 4in cow named Knickers has become an internet sensation. The 1,400kg (3080lb) animal is technically a steer and he’s believed to be the biggest in Australia. Knickers is a Holstein Friesian and his near record-breaking size has saved him from the slaughterhouse

This Is What A Sheep Looks Like When You Don’t Shear It For Five Years

leave a comment »

Members of the Australian public have recently been reporting a terrifyingly huge monster prowling the bush near Canberra.

The RSPCA believes that the sheep, who they named Chris, escaped from a farm five years ago and hasn’t been sheared since. Look at that majestic Afro.

After all was said and done, they removed 89lbs of fleece from Chris in a single sitting. That’s a world record, by the way.

Crimson Clouds

Photograph by Terence West, National Geographic Your Shot

Red storm clouds hang heavy over Spring Creek, Queensland, Australia. Photographer Terence West had been chasing the storm across the Southern Downs when he captured this image of the back of the storm just as the sun was going down. “It made me feel that nature was at peace after the anger of the storm,” he wrote.

Girl’s World

Photograph by Gina Waga, National Geographic Your Shot

“I captured this moment of my daughter’s reckless abandon in a suburban playground in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia,” says Gina Waga, a member of National Geographic Your Shot whose picture was recently featured in theDaily Dozen. “I chose an evening during a specific time of year, when the sunset would be enhanced by the smoke from the local canefires, creating the stunning, merging colors.”

Waga says a lower-angle composition captured her daughter’s silhouette perfectly. “It was then up to timing: teaching her how to position herself, pushing her on the swing, then getting back to the perfect spot in the overgrown grass to capture a moment of simplicity and beauty in a child’s life.”

TEDx: beatbox brilliance, with Tom Thum

leave a comment »
