“Photography is a love affair with life.” Burk Uzzle
At aged 23, Burk Uzzle was one of the youngest photographers ever hired by Life. Born in North Carolina, Burk was devoted to communicating his perception of a changing American sensibility in the 1960s, including the culturally defining moment that Bobbi Kelly and Nick Ercoline greeted the dawn at Woodstock. He has since twice been elected as President of Magnum Photos.
“Wherever there is light, one can photograph.” Alfred Stieglitz
At the end of 1924 the Boston Museum of Fine Arts acquired a collection of twenty-seven of Stieglitz’s photographs. This was the first time a major museum included photographs in its permanent collection. Stieglitz donated the photos in order to have complete control over which images would go into the collection.
“It’s not the photographer who makes the picture, but the person being photographed”
“In life we do things, some we wish we had never done. Some we wish we could replay a million times in our heads. But they all make us who we are and in the end, shape every detail about us. If we were to reverse any of them, we wouldn’t be the person we are. So just live, make mistakes, have wonderful memories, but never second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly where it is you are going.” ~ Unknown

Logan Laplante is a 13 year-old boy who was taken out of the education system to be home schooled instead. Not only was he home schooled, but Logan had the ability to tailor his education to his interests and also his style of learning, something traditional education does not offer. As Logan has mentioned, when he grows up he wants to be happy and healthy. At a TEDx talk in 2013, he discussed how hacking his education is helping him achieve that goal.
